LOCK. YOUR. CAR. DOORS. Here is a recent case from the overnight hours of 11/29/2020 in the Lake Cyrus area of Hoover. It shows exactly how car burglars operate. Several suspects, working together, simply walk down the street checking car doors. If the doors are locked, they move on to the next driveway. If the doors are unlocked, they are in. The suspect vehicle is possible a dark Nissan Maxima. Good lighting is a good deterrent. Video surveillance is great, but it helps identify suspects AFTER the fact. But…LOCKED doors CAN deter. You’ll see in the video that two of the vehicle had locked doors, one did not. That is the one that was victimized. If you are able to park inside, do so. If you park outside, try to utilize good lighting and video if possible. But…remember…LOCK YOUR DOORS! Another tip from Detectives: SERIAL NUMBERS for your property. Electronics, tools, firearms, anything that has identifying information. Keep a record of serial numbers in a safe place just in case. It will assist Detectives in tracking down your property and holding someone responsible. If you know anything about this case, please contact Detective Leach at 205-739-6071.
