On February 9, 2020, the body of a black male was discovered near a fishing trail in a portion of Bay View Lake along the 200 block of Mulga Loop Road.  The pictured victim was determined to be Quaysean “Sean” Caribe Avant, an 18-year-old that had been reported missing by his family to Birmingham PD on February 6, 2020.  Further investigation determined that the victim had sustained several gunshot wounds from which he apparently died.  The victim was reportedly last seen alive by his girlfriend on the day he was reported missing after she had driven him to locations in the Roebuck, Eastlake, and West End areas.  She last dropped Avant off at a cousin’s residence near his own.  The victim reportedly had an ongoing confrontation with another black male.  Detectives believe a fight posted on social media between the victim and this person may have something to do with the victim’s murder and need to locate the other party to it.
