According to a report filed with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office a shooting occurred May 25, 2021, approximately 9:40 pm, in the 1000 block of Villa Rica Court.  Deputies responded to this location to find a male subject, later identified as Stanley Ray Hopson Jr, lying in the doorway of his apartment.  He appeared to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds from which he later died.  Eyewitnesses in the area at the time reported hearing three gunshots immediately prior to Hopson collapsing just inside his apartment.  An eyewitness also reported seeing two black males running from the victim’s apartment immediately after the shots.  They were observed getting into a black Dodge Charger with dark tinted windows driven by an unseen third person.  If you know anything about this homicide please contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama.  You remain anonymous and the information you provide to Crime Stoppers leading to the charge and arrest of an identified suspect could result in a cash reward up to $5,000.
