The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Friday, August 4, 2023.

The victim has been identified as:
Diangelo Freeman, (56), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama


At approximately 9:50 PM, East Precinct officers were dispatched to the 7400 Block of 4th Avenue South on report of a Person Shot. Officers arrived on the scene and then observed the victim unresponsive inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the deceased victim.
