REWARD INCREASED TO $15,000 FOR INFORMATION IN THE ROGER CHEATHAM HOMICIDE CASE
A Governors Reward has been established in the amount of $10,000.00 and Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama is offering $5000.00
Detectives request assistance from the public in obtaining information on a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, that claimed the life of Roger Cheatham.
At around 10 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot call at an apartment complex in the 2100 Block of 31st Avenue North. Officers arrived on the scene and then discovered 31-year-old Roger Cheatham and a second adult male inside an apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and then transported both victims to UAB Hospital. The following day, UAB Hospital staff pronounced Roger Cheatham deceased. The second victim survived.
The preliminary investigation suggests at least three masked men broke into Roger’s apartment. Both victims were shot during the break-in. Roger’s children were inside the
apartment during the shooting; they were not harmed. There is no one in custody.
