Arrest Made in Thomas Bostany Homicide Investigation
The Birmingham Police Department reports detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of Thomas Bostany. He was shot and killed on Saturday, September 30, 2023, in the 1000 Block of Penthouse Drive.
The suspect has been identified as:
Samuel Wiggins IV, (26), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
Samuel Wiggins IV was arrested on the scene. Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After an assessment of the information, detectives obtained a warrant for Capital Murder (Shooting into a Vehicle). Samuel Wiggins IV is in the custody of Jefferson County Jail with No Bond.

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
The victim has been identified as:
Thomas Bostany, (29), W/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.
At 4:12 p.m., South Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Down call in the 1000 Block of Penthouse Drive (Mountainside Villas Apartments). Officers arrived on the scene and then observed the victim unresponsive inside a vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers observed the victim had been shot. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation revealed someone fired shots into the victim’s vehicle. Detectives took an adult male into custody on the scene.
BPD Homicide detectives interviewed the suspect at BPD Headquarters. The suspect was later transported to the Birmingham City Jail where he was placed under a 48-Hour Felony Extension for Capital Murder. No clear motive has been determined.
