The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
The victim will be identified upon notification of the next of kin. This is Birmingham’s 4th murder investigation of 2026.
At approximately 1:21 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of 29th Street Ensley on a report of a two-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male unresponsive inside an overturned vehicle in the 1300 block of 29th Street Ensley. The second vehicle involved was unoccupied and parked.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived and pronounced the victim deceased. Following further investigation by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, it was determined that the victim had been shot.
There is no one in custody at this time. This investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
