The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a Homicide investigation following a
shooting that occurred on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m.

South Precinct officers responded to the 1900 block of 2nd Avenue South on a report of
shots fired in the area and a person running toward an abandoned structure.

Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and entered an abandoned structure formerly
occupied by Adamson Ford, where they discovered an adult male unresponsive and
suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the scene and
pronounced the victim deceased.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was involved in an altercation
with an unknown suspect when a shot was fired, fatally wounding the victim. The victim
then ran to the abandoned structure, where he died. The suspect fled the area before
officers’ arrival.

No one is in custody at this time.
