We’d like to offer an update on the Summer Buzbee investigation:
Unfortunately, based on some recent circumstances and findings, we now believe that Summer is a victim of foul play. Friday, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, along with a group of volunteers, conducted searches of the Williams Road and Old Russellville Road areas. During our search, we did not find Summer. However, we can confirm that we found some of her belongings. This ties in circumstantially to what we think may have happened, but it is not enough evidence to make an arrest at this point.
Our person of interest, Christian Shanklin, came in to speak with us a couple days ago, but elected to speak with representation. Of course, this is his right to do. We now consider him a suspect, as we believe through surveillance footage he was the last known person with Summer. We are asking for the public’s assistance to help us.
If in ANY circumstance you saw Summer around December 17 or after, please call us to help. Our $2,500 reward through the Sheriff’s Office is still available, and we will be working on other sources to try to increase this reward amount. If you have any information, please call us at (205) 302-6464. Thank you!
