According to detectives with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office a robbery occurred Friday October 16, 2020, approximately 10:20 PM, at the Harpersville Motel in the 4600 block of U.S. Highway 280 Harpersville.  They advise three armed males forced their way into the hotel manager’s room with the intent of robbing him.  While assaulting the manager they drew the attention of a nearby motel resident who came to the manager’s room to assist him.  Shots were exchanged between the assailants who were attacking the manager and the concerned person that was trying to help him, resulting in one of the assailants being shot and killed.  Detectives obtained surveillance video images of the three pictured subjects at the motel during the time the crime occurred.  Three suspects connected to the robbery are in custody but one, pictured black male wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants, remains at large.  Detectives believe someone else assisted by picking up one or more of the assailants from the area after the shooting occurred.  They need to identify this person.  If you know anything about this robbery please contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama.  You remain anonymous and the information you provide to Crime Stoppers leading to the charge and arrest of an identified suspect could result in a cash reward.
