The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a shooting that occurred on Friday, March 20, 2026.
The victim’s identity will be released pending notification of next of kin. At approximately 7:15 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the 200 block of Lake Drive Circle NE, Birmingham, on a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and transported the victim to UAB Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening. A short time later, officers were notified that a second individual (adult male) arrived at UAB Hospital by private vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. That individual later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation indicates that two individuals who were shot, along with two additional individuals who were not injured, arranged to meet in the 200 block of Lake Drive Circle NE, Birmingham. During the encounter, shots were fired, resulting in both individuals being struck by gunfire. The two uninjured individuals have been interviewed by Birmingham Police Department Homicide detectives. A suspect is in custody.
