The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a double homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
The victims have been identified as:
- Kayla Hall, (19), B/F, of Hanceville, Alabama.
- Keithan Parker, (25), B/M, of Pinson, Alabama.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., the Birmingham 911 Communications Division began receiving calls reporting Shots Fired in the 3200 Block of 17th Avenue North.
North Precinct officers were dispatched to the area. The area is commonly referred to as “The Bottoms”, or “The Norwood Bottoms.” Officers were updated that a female was shot at the Chevron gas station, located at 3019 12th Avenue North. Officers arrived at the Chevron and then located an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim had driven a White Ford Focus to the Chevron. Upon further investigation, officers observed the victims inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victims deceased. BFR personnel transported the surviving female victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests all three victims were shot in the 1700 Block of 32nd Place North in a targeted attack. The surviving female victim drove all three victims to the Chevron gas station for help. The White Ford Focus had numerous bullet holes. There is no one in custody.
