Birmingham Police Department Seeking Help with Homicide Investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as:

Mardrecus Hardy, (43), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

At around 2:40 p.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a person deceased at a residence in the 6900 Block of Division Avenue.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and transported the victim to UAB Hospital. Officers later learned the victim suffered a gunshot wound. BPD Homicide and Felony Assault detectives responded to the scene.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the victim passed away at UAB Hospital. The preliminary investigation suggests family members discovered the victim during a welfare check. There is no one in custody.
