205-254-7777The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a double homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 16, 2023.
The victim has been identified as:
Trudy Mustin, (63), B/F, of Bessemer, Alabama.
At approximately 6:55 p.m., West Precinct officers were dispatched to a Person Shot Call in the 1500 Block of Alemeda Avenue. Officers were updated that ShotSpotter registered multiple rounds fired in the 1100 Block of 15th Street Southwest. Officers arrived on the scene when they observed the victim inside a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and then transported the victim to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries. UAB Hospital staff pronounced the victim deceased. The preliminary investigation suggests this shooting stems from an escalation of two groups who were having an ongoing argument. Patrol officers detained multiple persons of interest; they were transported to BPD Headquarters where Homicide detectives interviewed them. The persons of interest were then released.
