Shermethia Tynise Coteat left behind four children when she was murdered on February 14, 2020. Hoover Police Detective Brad Fountain is asking the public for assistance to solve this crime and bring justice to her family.
NEWS RELEASE – HOOVER PD 2/15/20 The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified Shemethia Tynise Coteat, 41-year-old female from Hoover, Alabama, as the victim in last night’s homicide. At 6:53 P.M., the Hoover 911 center received several calls of a person wounded by gunfire in front of 808 Tyler Circle at The Park at Wellington and Wakefield apartment complex. Officers arrived to find the victim mortally wounded in the parking lot. She was pronounced deceased by Hoover Fire medics at 7:05 P.M. Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored four-door vehicle speeding away from the scene.
An autopsy was performed this morning, which revealed the victim was shot four times from behind. It appears she was retrieving items from the backseat of her vehicle when she was attacked. Detectives are still working to determine a motive, but early indications are the victim was specifically targeted.
