Jefferson County Detectives Need Information Regarding a Homicide Case
September 16, 2020
On August 28, 2020, approximately 3:40 am, Jefferson County deputies responded to a fully involved house fire at 1009 Grand Oaks Road in the Fairfield area. A victim was found by fire and rescue responders inside the residence in an upstairs bedroom. He was eventually identified as Kenneth Eugene Brown (pictured), a 60-year-old black male who was a resident of this address. Further examination of the area in which the victim was found indicated that he had been shot. Detectives believe that Kenneth Brown was the victim of a homicide and the fire involving his residence possibly connected to this crime. Detectives also determined that the victim’s vehicle, a black 4 door 2016 Jeep Cherokee, had been taken from the residence and believe its theft to be connected to the victim’s homicide. Midfield PD later recovered the victim’s burnt vehicle from the 1500 block of Midfield Industrial Drive. Further investigation revealed to them that the vehicle had been driven to this location on August 28, 2020, approximately 1:05 am, by an unknown person who intentionally set it ablaze. Detectives also believe that after setting the victim’s vehicle on fire this person was picked up by someone else and driven away from the scene. If you know anything about this crime please contact Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama. You remain anonymous and the information you provide to Crime Stoppers leading to the charge and arrest of an identified suspect could result in a cash reward up to $5,000.
