Just before 4:00 AM on February 12th, deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Forestdale Plaza to investigate a report of a stolen ATM. After reviewing evidence, it was determined that the thieves used a garbage truck and a chain to uproot the ATM from its base. The ATM was recovered in the 1300 block of Heflin Avenue shortly after 4:00 AM, as deputies were able to follow a debris trail.
Video footage shows two suspects dressed in all black, with their faces covered, connecting a chain with a tow hook to the ATM. The chain was connected to a garbage truck, that was later determined to have been stolen out of the city of Birmingham. Birmingham Police Department is investigating the theft of the truck.
