Homicide Investigation in North Birmingham


The Birmingham Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a shooting that occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The victim’s identity will be released pending family notification.Shortly before 6:00 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to the 1800 Block of Morris Avenue (Greyhound bus station) on a report of a person shot.


When officers arrived on scene, they observed an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
BFRS transported the victim to UAB Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation has revealed that two adult males, one being an on-duty security guard at the Greyhound Bus Station, were involved in a physical altercation. During the altercation, the security guard fired shots, fatally wounding the victim. The security guard remained at the scene, was detained and transported to the Birmingham Police Headquarters for questioning.
